Copper to the World – Delivering SA’s Copper Strategy
South Australia’s copper endowment will be the focus of much global attention during the state’s inaugural Copper to the World conference.
Adelaide will host the ‘Copper to the World – Delivering South Australia’s Copper Strategy’ conference on 27 June 2017.
The international gathering at the Adelaide Convention Centre will showcase the achievements of the mining and services sector in delivering the aims of South Australia’s Copper Strategy.
South Australia’s Copper Strategy sets out an ambitious target of tripling the state’s copper production to 1 million tonnes a year within the next two decades. The strategy is designed to ensure the South Australian community also benefit from this expected growth in output through new jobs and business opportunities.
The South Australian Government has already taken several early steps to implement the strategy, including providing $20 million for the PACE Copper initiative and $10 million to support innovative research into a process to improve copper-in-concentrate.
The holistic nature of the Copper Strategy ensures that its work programs cover the entire copper value chain from accelerating exploration and discovery of new high-quality resources, through to support for innovation in research, infrastructure and mining services, and help strengthen community and stakeholder engagement.
The Copper to the World conference draws speakers from Australia and Chile, including CSIRO, CRU and the Chilean Productivity Commission, to address a range of topics such as international partnerships, the latest worldwide trends in demand for copper and innovation opportunities for the METS (mining equipment, technology and services) sector within South Australia – all in the context of delivering South Australia’s Copper Strategy.
In addition to quality speakers, the conference will offer opportunities for delegates to meet with the major players in the Copper Strategy exhibition space.
The full program is available on the Copper to the World web page where you can register your interest in attending the conference to receive updates on program development and other activities.
